How to File an Application to Cancel TAN?
Steps to Cancel the TAN on the TIN NSDL Portal
- Visit the TIN-NSDL portal.
Click on Services > TAN from the dashboard on the TIN-NSDL portal.
- Click on the Change/Correction“
From the “Apply Online” drop-down list.
- Scroll down to the “Apply for Changes or Correction in TAN data” section
Select the “Category of Deductors” from the drop-down list. Thereafter, click on the “Select” option.
- Fill in all the appropriate details in the respective field.
On the corrections/change application page.
- Under point 6, fill in the details of the TAN that you wish to cancel
Click on the check-box on the left side of the margin.
- Click on “Submit” and make payment
Payment can be done through Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, Internet Banking, or BharatQR.
- Visit the TIN-NSDL portal.
Click on Services > TAN from the dashboard on the TIN-NSDL portal.
- Click on the Change/Correction“
From the “Apply Online” drop-down list.
- Scroll down to the “Apply for Changes or Correction in TAN data” section
Select the “Category of Deductors” from the drop-down list. Thereafter, click on the “Select” option.
- Fill in all the appropriate details in the respective field.

Click on the check-box on the left side of the margin.
- Click on “Submit” and make payment
Payment can be done through Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, Internet Banking, or BharatQR.
Therefore, after completing the payment process, an acknowledgment screen will be displayed with following information:
- Unique 14-digit acknowledgment number
- Status of applicant
- Name of applicant
- Contact details
- Payment details
- Space for Signature
